January 26-28

I had my second 3 in 3 this weekend! Friday, the 26th, I had classes and a meeting at school, so I got to DCU a little later. It was Women in Hockey/Sports night, so as soon as I got there, we were putting out the inflatable for our first game of the night - the girls hockey team from the Junior Crusaders. We also had 4 Nichols kids helping us out for the day. I did the seat tags and then it was time for our game. I was stationed at the Chuck-A-Puck table. That night, half of the proceeds from the Chuck-A-Puck went to St. John's Church for the homeless shelter nearby, so there were 4 of them who were at the table talking to the guests. We had Taylor Girard and Emily Brown come from the PWHL to do our puck drop and do a signing.

Saturday was Star Wars night. When we got in we worked on putting together the Chuck-A-Pucks. After working on those for a while, a couple of us got called to put together the handouts - a Baystate Savings Bank bag with a flyer and a red, green, or blue lightsaber. When heading in to get our press meal, 2 other Nichols kids came for the night. I was stationed at Fan Assistance 2 handing out Railers beanies to the people who had bought the promotional package. We had another guest, Ryan Fitzgerald from the Worcester Red Sox, on Saturday to partake in some of the announcing and had a signing table as well.

Sunday was Trax's birthday! After coming in and working on Chuck-A-Pucks, I was given the task of creating his birthday card and sitting at the table next to Kids Club for people to come sign it. There were so many of Trax's mascot friends there for his birthday party, including Wally from the Boston Red Sox, who came by the table when I was making the card and stole it to go get a picture with it and Trax. When I got it back, I sat at the table for the first period and during first intermission it was presented to him. After that, I was asked if I was okay around mascots (A.K.A. do I get scared by them) and was brought down to the entertainment staff locker room to help roll fold shirts for the second intermission T-shirt Toss. I was then partnered up with Buck from County Bank to be his handler for the toss. I watched his tail and made sure it didn't hit any more children and we waited in the stands watching a big fight from the players while waiting for the period to end. After a long 15 minutes from the fight and waiting for the refs to figure out the penalty calls, they did the Chuck-A-Puck and then the T-shirt Toss. When we were done with that, I was bringing Buck back to the elevator to bring him down to the locker room where he and the other mascots could eat their pizza. He got stopped by some kids for a picture and while their parents were taking the photo, Sonar, the Hartford Wolfpack mascot, came up to me and held out his arm. Obviously, I took it and we walked the rest of the way to the elevator where he got down and proposed to me. Buck came to the elevator right when it was closing and all the mascots waved at him as it did, so we had to wait for the next ride down. After escorting them to their room, I got to watch the rest of the game that they, unfortunately, lost.
