Puck Placement

This weekend was Fan Appreciation Weekend. We had a ton of giveaways and the cheerleaders were there for it as it was our last game of the regular season. I started out the day making Chuck-A-Puck bags and doing seat tags. I got the Chuck-A-Puck table set up and brought a bucket of the bags to it to stock it up. We had a little misunderstanding that had to be taken care of with one of the vendors at the tables on the concourse. He showed up, but his tables and tablecloths weren't there because he wasn't supposed to be there. After bringing the bags of pucks over, I went to the office and talked to my boss about it. It wasn't something I was told to worry about, so I went back to my spot for the night which was on Chuck-A-Puck mobile. When doors opened, I went around the concourse multiple times before being stopped by our Director of Ticket Sales.  I showed up to the Worcester Ice Center and my first task of the morning was to start assembling folders for the kids. They had two coloring pages and a word search, a Trax card, a pocket schedule of the games for the season, and a free ticket voucher. The tickets were marked for each school, so we had to go through the folders when we were done to make sure that they were in the right school's section. We got to getting the buckets and seals out onto the ice and, surprisingly, the busses were on time/a little bit early. The team had practice during this time, so the kids didn't get to skate with any of the players, but they were able to pull John Copeland before practice started for autographs on their jerseys. I was back on skate sizing as always and helped the kids tie them up. I also have become a pro at helping the kids get their helmets on.  On Wednesday, March 27th, we had our second Sensory Friendly Night. Because it was a lower attendance game, we only set up one merch stand. A couple of the other interns and I set up the concourse and fit the tables with their tablecloths. I was in the Cool Down Room again. We didn't have many people come in this night, which was good to see. A couple came in to check it out when doors opened, two teenagers stopped by during the first period, and the second into third period another girl came in with her mom. I got to color four pictures and do the word search that we put out. When the last girl came in, she was recovering from an anxiety seizure. I got to talk with her and her mom a lot. Her mom and I calmed her down and explained any noises that may have happened like the freight elevator sounds coming from right next to the room.  Usually, I have to leave Skate to Success a little early so I can go to class, but this time I was able to stay the whole time. We had 3 players again this week and we all helped get the kids their skates and helmets. I was helping a girl get her skates on and the girl next to her called me pretty which I thought was really cute. I put on a playlist for the music and controlled some of that before heading out to the front to set up their lunch tables. When they were all done skating, we were helping them take off their skates and helmets and me and a couple of the other interns were shocked at how many kids didn't wear socks with their skates. Some of them had socks with them but chose not to wear them while skating. We cleaned up the locker rooms and disinfected everything.

 We had another Skate to Success on March 19th. We had 3 players there that day. As always, we handed out jerseys to all the kids, got them fitted for skates and helmets, and helped them tie their laces and buckle up their helmets (I mostly did the skates, the helmets still confuse me a bit). After getting them on the ice, a few of us went out to the front and set up their lunch tables. They each get a water, apple, and napkin at their place settings. When they got off the ice, we helped them undo their skates and helmets (which are a lot easier to take off than it is to put them on), and started disinfecting everything.

The game theme for March 15th was golf night, so of course we walked into the office to all the front office guys playing mini golf. We started making our Chuck-A-Puck bags as usual and were able to fill all the buckets. We all helped set up the merch stands and were able to debut the new St. Patrick's Day items. I was assigned to the Chuck-A-Puck table for the night, but overall, it was a pretty standard night. Saturday, the 16th, was our St. Patrick's Day game. We were able to throw in some green to our outfits, so I put in my bow from when I was cheering here last year. We made our Chuck-A-Puck bags and had a special bag that contained a golden puck in it. I was asked to do seat tags again, but this time took a little bit longer than it has before. The person printing them accidentally forgot to hit the sort button before printing them that breaks the pages into their proper section and seat numbers, so we spent a little extra time sorting them out on the floor before bringi...
